Hannah Honeywill’s work references pre-existing objects, often items of everyday furniture, which have a history and functionality cited in invisibility. Through seamlessly fabricated alterations her appropriated sculptures initiate surreal, queer and uncanny new readings. A central inspiration of her drawing work has been Gray’s Anatomy, using the visual language of the illustrations synonymous with the text to blur the boundaries of the body in the context of Queer theory.
In 2016 Hannah will be exhibiting as part of New Art West Midlands, selected by Katharine Stout, Sonia Boyce and John Stezaker. In 2015, she was long listed for the Aesthetica Art Prize, featured in Future Now Aesthetica Art Prize Anthology, Won the 'Next Wave Art Prize' as an outstanding emerging talent and exhibited at Genderblender alongside twenty of the world’s most important artists in Queer theory.
Publishing widely Hannah was also selected for the Arte Laguna Prize 2012 in Venice and the 2011 Threadneedle prize.The October open studios event provides a unique opportunity to visit Chisenhale Art Place studio holders and see early phase works in development. For more information click here
