Natural Science in Complex Arrays

"Natural Science in Complex Arrays" is a 2010 work composed of a series of photographs documenting a "freeform" sculpture composed of one hundred and ninety nine paper hexagons, which is taken out and photographed in a number of environments.
A new dialogue is created within the work when it is placed in a living environment, it’s interaction with its setting makes it a very out of place intervention. The structure was set up so that it sprawled over whatever it was set on. Like moss or some other fungi, it is almost spreading across its setting, like a virus of formality threatening to eliminate colour, irregularity and promoting it’s own sense of formality.
